Benefits

The starting salary for Newly Qualified Social Workers is £26,200 per annum and you will progress to Senior Social Worker status with hard work, commitment and experience and completion of your consolidation module and specialist awards. Salaries for Senior Social Workers currently go to £32,800.

Senior Practitioner salaries range from £32,800 to £35,400.

Team Manager salaries start at £36,300 and rise to a maximum of £45,100 for Assessment and Intervention Team Managers working in our Integrated Service Delivery Teams.

We are also able to offer all staff a flexible working policy, generous annual leave entitlement , childcare voucher scheme and a final salary pension scheme.

Moving house can be costly and is one of the main considerations in any career move where relocation is necessary. To help ease the burden, West Sussex County Council has a scheme whereby removal costs of up to £10,000 or 25% of your salary could be paid if you are moving to West Sussex from outside the area. You could also receive a lodging allowance. (Conditions apply and funding is at the discretion of individual departments).

The above is, of course, in addition to the excellent continuous training and support you will receive. We are currently developing a Newly Qualified Social Worker scheme, which will involve induction, clear supervision and an agreed caseload.

All social workers can freely access Post Qualifying Awards, which are linked to a structured scheme for pay progression.

We have long standing partnerships with local universities, and we work closely with them to ensure that their courses reflect operational needs and issues.

West Sussex County Council is the place for social workers to come and develop to their full potential.
