Thank you for taking time out to consider this critical and exciting new role that forms part of Corporate Management Board. I know as an HR/OD professional, it will be important for you to have a place at the top table and play a key role in planning and delivering the Council’s future challenges.

There is a great deal to achieve as we put in place and deliver the Council’s Transformation agenda and I am keen for this post to work closely with the new Chief Executive. As with other public sector bodies, we are challenged to make efficiencies, work smarter, act commercially and ensure we attract and retain great talent for the future.

This role will lead the Corporate People Workstream supporting the Chief Executive, Management Board and Cabinet to deliver strong outcomes for our workforce and local communities.

As professional lead for the HR/OD function, it will be important to ensure that the service is fit for the future needs of the Council and that staff are professionally developed to operate in a modern HR style.

You’ll need to operate at pace, be solutions focused, and be able to operate commercially within a unionised environment. Ensuring quality staff and unions are engaged through the change process will be important.
