Working With Us
South of the River Thames, Southwark stretches from the riverside to Dulwich. It captures a number of well-known areas including Bankside and London Bridge, Peckham and the Elephant & Castle, Bermondsey and Rotherhite.
Described as London's most historic borough, it is London’s fastest growing area for tourism. Home to world famous attractions such as the Tate Modern, Borough Market and Tower Bridge, we are also an area of major regeneration. Our programme is not only changing the face of the borough, it is also changing how people live, work and socialise within it.
Our central location provides excellent transport links. We are served by three London underground lines and a major rail terminal at London Bridge. There is an extensive bus network and easy access to major roads.
We have a population of over 250,000, and are the largest Housing landlord in London. 63 Councillors lead Southwark, which is organised into eight multi-service departments. The Council increasingly works in partnership with other public sector organisations and the private sector. We are committed to excellence and aim to provide services effectively and efficiently to the local community and all of our visitors.
Administration & IT Support
Support Services for front-line Social workers are an important part of Children’s Services. We provide a range of resources and practical help to the Social Work Teams, from on-site finance staff and mobile working solutions, to premises, transport (including lease-car facility) and health and safety.
The Administration and IT Support team plays a part in the induction for all staff, helping new joiners get acquainted with the Children’s Information system and other in house information and record-keeping resources. The team is always on site to provide one-to-one help. Practitioners confirm that this support and commitment makes their jobs much easier.
