Senior Practitioner – Family Support Team

£36,096 - £42,258

Joining a well-resourced and highly motivated team, you’ll manage a complex caseload focused on child protection.

The role

Responsible for delivering complex assessments and undertaking investigations following child protection enquiries, you will make full use of your extensive experience.

Your activities will include representing the service at court, initial child protection conferences, and planning and review meetings. You will also support and mentor newly qualified colleagues.

The requirements

You’ll need experience of managing a complex caseload, which has included mental health, domestic violence, and pre-birth assessments. You should also have the ability to prepare reports and present them in a formal setting.

Holding a recognised social work qualification and registered with the GSCC, you’ll have the professional experience and personal skills to mentor and motivate others.

Social Worker– Family Support Team

£29,571 - £38,733

Provide a social work service to children and their families, with a special focus on more vulnerable clients or those with complex problems.

The role

Whether it’s children in need, children who have complex needs or children who are identified as requiring a child protection plan, your expertise will make all the difference.

Immersed in the diverse and multicultural community of Southwark, you’ll work directly with children from a variety of backgrounds, but with the full support of a well-resourced team. This role will involve ensuring the implementation and co-ordination of complex assessments within the context of an enabling authority.

The requirements

With experience of direct work with children and families from a wide variety of backgrounds, you will have some knowledge of managing risks and be able to make recommendations regarding children’s safety.

GSCC-registered, you will hold a recognised social work qualification and have experience in child protection, childcare planning for children in need and working with behaviourally and emotionally disturbed children and young people.

Using a range of interventions to identify, protect and safeguard vulnerable children, you’ll carefully balance appropriate allocation of resources with value for money. You will also be responsible for reviewing and quality assuring the service.

The requirements

You’ll need experience of managing a complex caseload, which has included mental health, domestic violence, pre-birth assessments and substance misuse. You should also have the ability to prepare reports and present them in a formal setting.

You will have a good understanding of issues related to the management of risk and care planning. Experience of child protection work and court work is vital.

GSCC-registered, you will hold a recognised social work qualification and have thorough knowledge of current legislation and issues relating to social services.
