Working for Us and Vacancies
Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals Foundation Trust has an enviable reputation for delivering good quality, innovative and efficient patient care. Our success is in part based on the close working relationships and networks we enjoy with local GPs, Social Services, Hospitals and Primary Care Trusts.
Indeed, as part of a £335m Greater Peterborough Health Investment Plan, we are currently building Peterborough City Hospital , due for completion in 2010. The new hospital will have 612 inpatient beds, an emergency care centre, a high-tech diagnostics unit, women and children's unit, cancer unit, specialist rehabilitation unit, renal dialysis and a multi-disciplinary training centre. These new facilities will enable us to meet our aim of being a major healthcare provider in eastern England that is best for patients and great to work for.
But, whilst our location and facilities are great, we would be nothing without the skills and dedication of our 3,300 strong workforce. Undoubtedly our greatest asset, we reward their energy and commitment with excellent training and development, flexible working opportunities, supportive infrastructure and a wide range of benefits.
Rewards and benefits
Pension and pay
All of our employees are eligible for, and are encouraged to join, the NHS Pension Scheme. This is acknowledged as an excellent final salary scheme, which includes life insurance and ill health retirement benefits.
Work/life balance
As you'd expect from a Trust with a philosophy of encouraging all of our employees to live and learn, we provide a variety of options aimed at improving peoples' working lives.
We are committed to flexible working and will try to accommodate individual requests wherever possible.
Flexibility policies currently enable full and part-time hours, flexi-time, job share, annualised hours, morning, afternoon, evening and night working, term-time only and school holiday working, compression (longer day, shorter week working) and self-rostering. These are all part of an evolving arrangement that will continue to change in line with patient and employee needs.
And when you need time off, we can accommodate a range of paid and unpaid leave, including, maternity, paternity, parental, adoption, career break, study, carer and, of course, annual leave. Annual leave is set at a generous 27 days per annum for new entrants to the NHS, rising to 29 days after five years and 33 after ten, so you really will have time to relax, unwind and enjoy some quality 'you' time to recharge your batteries.
Childcare
We have a dedicated Childcare Co-ordinator, who has established relationships with several local childcare providers and excellent knowledge of facilities across the region. In addition to this, we actively promote the Busy Bees scheme, which enables employees to purchase childcare vouchers by sacrificing part of their salary before Tax and NI. If you would like to discuss childcare options, please contact our Childcare Co-ordinator on 01733 874000 extension 4135.
We also promote holiday play-schemes and there is staff support for parents and carers with paternity, maternity, adoption and carers leave.
Your health and wellbeing
Because we know there's more to life than work, and sometimes life isn't easy or straightforward, we have made significant year on year investment to support the health and wellbeing of our staff. Our excellent Occupational Health service offers comprehensive pre and post employment screening, employment related vaccination programmes, infectious disease advice and immunisation, as well as counselling and post-trauma support.
All staff can take advantage of free annual flu vaccinations.
Communication and development
We listen to your views because they count and we want you to have a say in the future of the Trust - we use Team Briefs, our Factsheet and Pulse Magazine to keep our staff informed.
We understand that everyone's skills and strengths are different and therefore create personal development plans to chart individual progress and take you in the direction you want to be.
Housing
You can benefit from a key worker/affordable housing scheme. For more information: http://www.keyhomes-east.org.uk/
