The Trust

Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the country's top performing NHS acute Trusts.  On 1 April 2004 it became one of the first ten NHS Foundation Trusts in England. The Trust's aim is to be a major healthcare provider in the east of England that is best for patients and great to work for.

As an NHS Foundation Trust, our hospital services are developed with the increased involvement of our local communities of Greater Peterborough and Stamford, rather than operating under the direct management control of the Department of Health. We, however, remain a central part of the NHS, committed to delivering NHS services to NHS patients, free at the point of use and according to need, not ability to pay.

The Trust is a high performer and in the last financial year (01 April 2008 - 31 March 2009) met or bettered many of the key national performance indicator targets. Financially, the Trust performs very well enabling it to continue to invest in more members of staff, patient equipment and environment improvements and facilities for its staff. The on-going investment is to help the Trust ensure its top priority - patient safety - continues to be achieved.
