Introduction
Ealing Council is focussed, high achieving, and very ambitious.
Our top three top priorities; Cleaner Streets, Safer Communities and Value for Money respond directly to residents’ concerns and our focus on increasing resident satisfaction has had real results:
- 78% of residents believe the council is doing a good job (up from 65% in 2005)
- 72% of residents believe we’re efficient and well run (up from 55% in 2005)
We’ve driven up our CPA score to the top 4 Stars and Improving Strongly rating and in the last year:
- 79% of the council’s performance indicators have been improved
At the same time, excellent financial management has meant we’ve achieved £61.3m in savings and efficiencies over the last four years, and have invested £46.5m back into service improvements.
As a result of all this, the Audit Commission ranks Ealing in the top five authorities in the country for performance improvement.
But this is no more than a good start to achieving our ambitions for Ealing. We want to be the highest-performing local authority, with an outstanding reputation for delivering high quality, cost-effective services.
As a place, Ealing is famous for our film studios and a green and leafy environment, yet there’s much more to it than that. As home to over 300,000 people we are London’s third largest Borough. We bridge the inner and outer areas of the capital, and our seven towns each have their own distinct character.
Our diversity provides a range of real challenges but also makes the borough unique and vibrant. We are determined to respond positively to local issues as well as the big ones facing all local authorities today.
Our new Chief Executive will need to be an exceptional individual able to drive further improvements to our performance for the benefit of customers, and meet the high expectations of Members and staff.
If you are ready for the challenge, have the skills and experience to succeed, and share our energy, enthusiasm and ambition, you will find Ealing a very rewarding place to work.
