Taking overall responsibility for an estate or neighbourhood, you will be the tenants’ champion: resolving their issues and complaints, tackling antisocial behaviour and delivering wide-ranging advice. Your remit will span all aspects of community safety, cleaning and grounds management and effectively managing empty properties, so you can expect to be stretched every day and to enjoy enormous impact on people’s quality of life.

Quite simply, we will look to you to bring neighbours together to create communities that are sustainable and satisfying, so we’re seeking a real self-starter with enormous passion and drive. Are you well versed in housing management services and legislation, housing case law and the regulations governing social landlords?

Leading a team of income officers, you will actively maximise the collection of rents owed to the Council, embedding a culture of ownership and performance management in your team. Equally importantly, you will have a diplomatic yet assertive approach to helping tenants overcome their difficulties and develop and implement some far-reaching debt reduction strategies whilst participating as a full member of the Area Management Team.

Are you experienced in customer-facing roles, ideally within a social housing environment? Do you have basic knowledge of rent collection procedures and policies?
Helping us minimise arrears for London’s largest housing stock, you will do whatever it takes to ensure the timely collection of rents and service charges. This will involve dealing with residents via correspondence, over the phone and face-to-face, providing debt counselling and support, and representing the Council in Court where appropriate.

A high level of confidence is vital, as you will regularly attend court, convene surgeries and visit residents in their own homes, and you will be deeply committed to making a difference. Well versed in inner city housing issues, you’re familiar with concepts such as distrait and repossession, knowledgeable regarding DSS and housing benefit regulations, and capable of negotiating effectively to bring about positive outcomes.
