Welcome to Coventry Social Care
If you are interested in working as a social worker as part of our developing multi-disciplinary Children, Learning and Young People's Service in a vibrant city where Social Care is performing well then look no further.
Coventry is a city of about 300,000 right in the middle of England. Coventry has an exciting social diversity with significant Asian communities as well as smaller Afro-Caribbean and Eastern European communities. About 22% of our population comes from ethnic minority communities, as compared to 13% for England as a whole. Once known largely for manufacturing, the city has successfully diversified and 75% of the workforce is now employed in the service sectors.
Coventry Social Care also has a rich diversity of staff. You would be joining an authority that is performing well scoring 3, good, in the 2007 Annual Performance Assessment for Children's Services. Coventry formed a combined Children, Learning and Young People's Directorate in 2006. We are making good progress in developing integrated and multi-disciplinary services. There are opportunities for social workers in our citywide referral and assessment service, our citywide Looked After Children's Team and the three local Neighbourhood Teams.
