CONDITIONS

The Conditions of Service attached to these appointments will generally be in accordance with the Joint Negotiating Committee for Chief Officers of Local Authorities as varied by local agreements.

SALARY

£51,958 - £57,430 p.a.

PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL

The City Council is committed to performance appraisals for its senior managers on an annual cycle. Heads of Service will be expected to undertake appraisal of the staff for whom they are directly responsible. The appraisals process will cover the identification and agreement of performance measures, appraisal against agreed goals and the identification of development and training needs, and is intended to be a two way process by which the appraiser and the appraised can discuss what is necessary to improve performance.

PROBATION

Employment with Coventry City Council is subject to the satisfactory completion of six months probationary period.

ANNUAL LEAVE

Annual leave entitlement for Hay Graded Officers is: 29 days, plus 8 public holidays, plus 3 days after 10 years local government service. Banked hours schemes and flexi schemes apply across the Council. The leave year commences on 1st April and ends on 31st March the following year, although the City Councils is looking to introduce personal leave years.

HOURS OF WORK

The postholder will be required to work such hours as may be reasonably necessary (including attendance at evening and weekend meetings) to meet the requirements of the post.

SICK PAY

The Council operates an Occupational Sick Pay scheme in accordance with the Joint Negotiating Committee for Chief Officers of Local Authorities Conditions of Service.

PENSION

The postholder will be entitled to join the Local Government Pension Scheme. Employees have various choices regarding pension arrangements, and further details are available on request.

NOTICE

The post is subject to a minimum of 3 months notice on either side or otherwise in accordance with the provision of the Employment Rights Act 1996.

RETIREMENT AGE

All employees have the option to work up to and including, the day before their 75th birthday. However, there will be no obligation or pressure on any employees to work aged 65 or over.

POLITICAL RESTRICTION

This post is politically restricted in accordance with Section 2 (1) of the Local Government & Housing Act 1989 on the basis that the postholder carries delegated authority to act on behalf of the Authority.

RELOCATION EXPENSES

The successful candidate will be eligible for a conditional grant towards the cost of relocation and household removal, up to a maximum of £8,000. Further details are available on request.

MEDICAL CLEARANCE

Any offer of appointment is subject to the receipt of a satisfactory medical report.
