Welcome letter
Dear Candidate,
Thank you for expressing interest in the post of Service Director:
Learning at Cambridgeshire County Council.
This role is a key part of the Children and Young People's Services Management Team and has leadership responsibility for a range of key educational and learning functions across Cambridgeshire, extending from Early Years and Childcare, to School Standards and Effectiveness, through to workforce development and educational support services.
Although having discrete functional responsibilities, as a key member of my management team, this role also provides an excellent opportunity for an ambitious education professional who wants to contribute to broader leadership and direction of children's services and who may ultimately aspire to become a Director of Children's Services.
With strong cross party political support, including a Cabinet Member with a dedicated Learning Portfolio, this role has a key remit to work in close partnership with a wide range of stakeholders, including Governing Bodies, Headteachers and our inspectors and regulators.
However, the most important stakeholders you will work with are the children and young people who access services and learning through a range of settings.
The role will offer both challenge and opportunity in equal measure.
I'm looking for someone who possesses the passion that I and fellow Directors have for improving the life chances of children and young people, with an absolute commitment to quality, standards, excellent commissioning and performance delivery.
I hope that you will seriously consider applying for the role and would recommend that you contact our retained search consultants from Veredus to explore the role further. Should you wish to access further information about the County Council or Children and Young People's Services in Cambridgeshire, please refer to our website:

I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
Gordon Jeyes
Executive Director: Children and Young People's Services
